Walking continued

Here is a quick video of Jonathan walking with the car toy. He is getting so fast with it. Although he has not repeated walking unassisted since the first time, but he is standing all by himself more and more. He is so cute. He sometimes forgets that he is not holding on. The funniest is when he falls down to a crawl position on purpose, so that he can chase Robert.

Walking

Jonathan is getting braver and braver when it comes to walking. He practically runs behind his walk behind toy. And two days ago he decided to take his first steps. He walked to me from the train table. It took me a minute to realize that he actually walked. At this rate he will be running next month when we visit CA.

Cruising

Jonathan started walking around the train table, and it hasn't stay just there. He can do the corners on this toy table, and now pulls up on anything he can. He is getting braver and braver. I am scared how soon he will start walking.
Saturday, I had him standing without holding my hands. HE was kind of leaning on my legs, but not much. Soon he will figure out his balance and it will be game over. He will be running very soon after.
At least, he crawled first. So I am getting used to mobile Jonathan.

Disappear

This is Robert's version of Peek-A-Boo, he covers Jonathan with a blanket and shakes his finger and exclaims "Disappear". Then pulls the blanket off Jonathan, if Jonathan hasn't already done it. Jonathan thinks it is fun, and laughs and waits for Robert to repeat the game.
I am just so glad they like to play together and that Robert finds ways to play nicely with his brother. When Robert is done playing with Jonathan, he will go to the far side of the playroom and play with his big boy toys. (Not sure how much longer that will last now that Jonathan is crawling.)

Friend's Blog Candy

My friend is offering a really cool blog candy. You should go check it out.

http://createdbycourtney.blogspot.com/

Her blog has wonderful creative ideas of what to make with stamps. She is one of the most creative people that I know. I wish I was as creative. I also wish she was still teaching scrapbook classes. The ones I made with her are the ones that are finished.

Pacifier Stalker

Ariel has decided she likes pacifiers. While she liked Roberts, she seems to love Jonathan's. With Robert's, she would sneak into the nursery and find the ones under the crib. Now she cuddles up to Jonathan when he has a pacifier and trys to pull it out of his mouth, or knock it out of his hand. She is truly bold, since she will do it when I am holding him. Ariel ignores the pacifiers on tables that she can get on, she wants the one that Jonathan has.
At least she will let Jonathan grab her hair, or collar without fighting back. She will come back for more, even if we take the pacifier away.

Jonathan is 6 months

Jonathan is now 6 months, He is getting bigger by the day. He had is 6 month check-up and he now weights 19 lbs, 4 oz. and is 27 inch long.
Sitting up and playing with his toys is one of his favorite pastimes. He can do it for 20 mins at a time now. It is quite handy, I can set him up with some toys and then prep. dinner/clean up.

He also loves sitting in the high chair talking to you while you work in the kitchen, or watching Robert play with his toys. The boys still get along great and it is amazing how much they want to play together. Jonathan wants to join in on Robert and Daddy's wrestling matches. He gets very fussy when he is left out, but will stop when they do, or if they bring him into the game.

Remembering A Friend

Last night, I got a phone call I knew was coming. My friend Bridget passed a way on Sunday, I don't think she was more than 31. She has lived with Cystic Fibrosis for her whole life. She was a fighter, and really taught me about living life. She had to make hard decissions thru out her life, her career path had to be dictated by what her health would allow not what she wanted to do. But she also found joy in life. In college one sure way to make her day was to give her a box of animal crackers. That simple box would last her all week, and she would smile because of it.
Unfortunately, over the last years we haven't have much contact. We drifted, as people tend to do. I moved out of state and started my career and family. She found the love of her life, and was settling into her life. Neither of us was good at keep in contact. But she was never far from my thought.
I will miss her. And remember that life can be as joyful or as sorrowful as we make it.

Homework in Preschool

That's right, Robert has had homework from preschool. He has gymnastics on Tuesdays, and missed some of his class. So he had to finish up the worksheets at home. The really cute part was I handed him the worksheets and a pencil, and he climbed up to the table, and got to work.

He finished all his work with little help, which was good since Jonathan was fussing and Aunt Jen called at the same time. I can't believe how grown up he is getting.

We are off to the Zoo today, as long as it doesn't rain.

Push up Baby

Look at the picture closely, and you can see that Jonathan is doing a push up. He does these just before he pushes himself backwards. And yes is started in the middle of the blanket you see at the bottom of the picture.
He now loves tummy time, we start him out on the blanket, and scatter some toys around him. He really likes the toys that move. He got a Winnie the Pooh that crawls, and love it. He can be fussing and you start that crawling near him and he lights up.
I love this picture, he looks so big it in. He is 6 months today, and we are going to get his picture taking.

Facebook

So my cousin, Renee, emailed me an invite to join her on Facebook, and after about a week, I did it. Now it one day, I have been able to reconnect with several friends from high school, and they are truly scattered. One is still near our hometown, not surprise there, another is in PA and yet another is in Buenos Aires, big surprise. All have kids and are doing well.
I also have several cousins and one uncle also on it, so it will be fun to how everyone connects on it.
I hope that I can continue to find friends and family on it and stay connect with them, especially now that we are so scattered. So if you don't have a facebook account, try it out, see who you find and be sure to add me as a friend.

Robert-ism

I am going to borrow my friend Courtney's terms for when the kids say something cute. She is always posting Corbin and Vivian-isms.

The other night at dinner we were talking to Robert about his day. He had told me earlier that Hannah (his best friend) had gathered two more of their girl friends, and told Robert he couldn't play it was girls only, no boys. So after relating this to Sean he asked,
Sean: How did that make you feel?
Robert: I didn't like it.

Both Sean and I were surprised that Robert knew the appropriate response. We ask these type of questions often and previously never got a response. So we just looked at each other and laughed. My little boy is growing up too quickly.

Teething

Jonathan is teething, which can be interesting. He drools all the time, and constantly is pulling your fingers into his mouth. He will even pull Robert's hand towards his mouth. We had to tell Robert not to let Jonathan chew on his hand. (I can't always be sure how clean they are.) But Jonathan is getting big enough to but the teething toy in his mouth all by himself. At least he gets some comfort from the teething toys and teething tablets. So far there is no sign of the teeth though.
I can't believe how much he can do now. He also sits ups, rolls both ways and is learning how to turn himself when he is on his tummy. Tonight when doing tummy time, he almost did a full 360.
