Remembering A Friend

Last night, I got a phone call I knew was coming. My friend Bridget passed a way on Sunday, I don't think she was more than 31. She has lived with Cystic Fibrosis for her whole life. She was a fighter, and really taught me about living life. She had to make hard decissions thru out her life, her career path had to be dictated by what her health would allow not what she wanted to do. But she also found joy in life. In college one sure way to make her day was to give her a box of animal crackers. That simple box would last her all week, and she would smile because of it.
Unfortunately, over the last years we haven't have much contact. We drifted, as people tend to do. I moved out of state and started my career and family. She found the love of her life, and was settling into her life. Neither of us was good at keep in contact. But she was never far from my thought.
I will miss her. And remember that life can be as joyful or as sorrowful as we make it.

Homework in Preschool

That's right, Robert has had homework from preschool. He has gymnastics on Tuesdays, and missed some of his class. So he had to finish up the worksheets at home. The really cute part was I handed him the worksheets and a pencil, and he climbed up to the table, and got to work.

He finished all his work with little help, which was good since Jonathan was fussing and Aunt Jen called at the same time. I can't believe how grown up he is getting.

We are off to the Zoo today, as long as it doesn't rain.

Push up Baby

Look at the picture closely, and you can see that Jonathan is doing a push up. He does these just before he pushes himself backwards. And yes is started in the middle of the blanket you see at the bottom of the picture.
He now loves tummy time, we start him out on the blanket, and scatter some toys around him. He really likes the toys that move. He got a Winnie the Pooh that crawls, and love it. He can be fussing and you start that crawling near him and he lights up.
I love this picture, he looks so big it in. He is 6 months today, and we are going to get his picture taking.

Facebook

So my cousin, Renee, emailed me an invite to join her on Facebook, and after about a week, I did it. Now it one day, I have been able to reconnect with several friends from high school, and they are truly scattered. One is still near our hometown, not surprise there, another is in PA and yet another is in Buenos Aires, big surprise. All have kids and are doing well.
I also have several cousins and one uncle also on it, so it will be fun to how everyone connects on it.
I hope that I can continue to find friends and family on it and stay connect with them, especially now that we are so scattered. So if you don't have a facebook account, try it out, see who you find and be sure to add me as a friend.

Robert-ism

I am going to borrow my friend Courtney's terms for when the kids say something cute. She is always posting Corbin and Vivian-isms.

The other night at dinner we were talking to Robert about his day. He had told me earlier that Hannah (his best friend) had gathered two more of their girl friends, and told Robert he couldn't play it was girls only, no boys. So after relating this to Sean he asked,
Sean: How did that make you feel?
Robert: I didn't like it.

Both Sean and I were surprised that Robert knew the appropriate response. We ask these type of questions often and previously never got a response. So we just looked at each other and laughed. My little boy is growing up too quickly.

Teething

Jonathan is teething, which can be interesting. He drools all the time, and constantly is pulling your fingers into his mouth. He will even pull Robert's hand towards his mouth. We had to tell Robert not to let Jonathan chew on his hand. (I can't always be sure how clean they are.) But Jonathan is getting big enough to but the teething toy in his mouth all by himself. At least he gets some comfort from the teething toys and teething tablets. So far there is no sign of the teeth though.
I can't believe how much he can do now. He also sits ups, rolls both ways and is learning how to turn himself when he is on his tummy. Tonight when doing tummy time, he almost did a full 360.
